Windows 10 Move Details Pane To Bottom

Is there anyway i can display my details panel on the bottom? Like it used to on win 7? Because windows 10 shows it on right hand side, but it's just taking too much of the space on my screen, it's really inconvenient when you open 2 folders and snap to sides and modify.

Any Way To Show Extended Detail In Details Pane?

Jan 29, 2016

Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.
So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)
You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.

Customization :: Explorer Pane Shows Desktop As Root / Instead Of This PC

Jan 26, 2016

all I have is 'desktop'. Everything else is under that. But all the pics I've seen of windows 10 show 'this PC' as the top level link. I would much prefer that. 'desktop' ends up being twice in the tree, and removable media twice as well. Well, actually desktop is right inside my user folder too!

Customization :: Add Recent Folders / Links / Favorites To Navigation Pane

I've seen adding shortcuts for these folders to Quick Access, but not rooted in the Navigation Pane. Critical info regarding display in Navigation Pane was found here: URL....Critical info regarding the appropriate flags for display in Open/Save dialogs was found here: URL...These files work on a per-user basis. This avoids having to deal with Ownership/Permissions issues of the CLSIDs under HKLM. So here are the files:

Sep 1, 2015

For Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.

Customization :: How To Display Date On Task Bar With Small Icons

Nov 16, 2015
Move

I'm trying to get my small taskbar to display both time and date, like the regular big taskbar. By default, Windows displays time and date on the taskbar in bottom-right corner. But if you go into taskbar's properties and select the option to show smaller icons, the taskbar becomes a little bit smaller (which is great) and there's no room for date to be displayed (which is not great at all).
I found a few 'solutions' for Windows 7, like using some third-party apps to override the default one (but there's all kinds of issues with them), or creating a new toolbar pointing to a folder that is being renamed everyday via schedule (ridiculous!) and so on.Back when I was using Windows 7, I found a dark theme that actually solved this problem (google 'cryeR deviantart windows 7 basic black theme'). You had to take ownership and replace the Aero.msstyles file, and then patch some stuff with provided utility. Kinda complicated, but it worked. Now I'm on Windows 10, and I can't find anything that would work. I really like the smaller taskbar, but I would also like to see the date.

Networking :: Homegroup Settings - Where Are Details Stored

Mar 5, 2016

I have a network of small computers for different purposes some Win 7 some Win 10. In upgrading my older Win 7 machines I made a few mistakes and have wiped a number of them. These older machines were all connecting to a homegroup for interchange of files.
Now they are on Win 10 the homegroup settings are rubbish. To remove them from the current list f homegroups computers requires you to log them on and leave the homegroup. This is obviously not possible. There was in the initial release of Win 10 a method, by right clicking a machine, to be offered a drop down which included the option to remove the computer from the homegroup. Unfortunately this never worked.
What I am looking for is the location of the storage where these older computers are recorded so I can try to remove them manually. Is it in the Registry?

Possible To Customize Icon Size In Details View In Explorer?

DetailsSep 3, 2015

I just upgraded from W8.1 to W10 and it looks like the icons got smaller by default in the 'details' view in the File Explorer.
My problem is that now the overlay icons which are used by TortoiseSVN do not seem to show anymore in the 'details' view (when they did use to show in all previous versions of Windows). By overlay icons, I mean things like a green arrow or a red exclamation mark which show up on the icon to indicate that the file is up to date in SVN or has been modified (see screenshots below).not good alternative: the overlay icons do appear in the 'Medium icons' or bigger view; (but not for 'Small icons'), as well as in the 'Content' view.
But none of these is satisfactory to me as I much prefer the 'details' view for the things I do -- I like to be able to see both the SVN status at the same time as the details of files, in a reasonable presentation (I don't like the 'Content' view, it wastes too much space when you have a lot of files to go through).
I suspect that if there is a way to change the size of the icons in the 'details' view, the overlay icons would show up again. The reason I believe this is that the overlay icons do appear in the 'details' view when I use the 125% setting in the SYSTEM | Display 'Customize your display' setting (which was used by default on my high resolution (1920 x 1080) but small (11.6') laptop screen). See screenshots below:
normal (100%) setting for 'details' view in File explorer:vs. 125% setting -- notice that now we can see the green arrow overlay icon for the folder temp_SKH_code:
Question: Is it possible to change the size of the icons appearing in the 'details' view of the File Explorer (through a registry hack, or anything)? I am also open to any other alternative which would enable me to see the overlay icons of TortoiseSVN in the 'details' view at 100% display setting.
As I use the 125% display setting on my laptop, I do not have any problem there. My problem is with the big external monitor (27' 2048 x 1152) that I use for which a 125% display setting would make everything way too big...For more information about the TortoiseSVN overlay icons and potential issues with Windows, see here. I originally thought that this was my problem (see also this post), until I realized that the overlay icons show fine in some of the views of File Explorer, as well as when using the 125% display setting.

Customization :: Display Changed From Black Printing On White Background To Blue Printing?

Oct 5, 2015

In Outlook Web App (OWA), I prefer to have the Reading Pane at the bottom but since I have been upgraded to OWA on Office 365 (I’m not sure whether this is Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2016), my Reading Pane is on the right again and I can’t find a way to change that to the bottom.

In OWA 2010, this option was under a View button at the top of my message list where I could also disable Conversation View. In addition, I don’t want the message list to show the first line of the email either. I just want things back to the way I had it configured in OWA 2010.

How can I configure all this in Outlook on the Web of Office 365?

Unlike in OWA 2010, the options to change your display settings are no longer located directly above your message list.

In OWA 2013, you won’t even find settings for this anymore in the Options page but you are still able to set it via a separate somewhat “hidden” Display Settings pane.

Move Details Pane To Bottom

In Outlook on the Web of Exchange 2016 and Office 365, they’ve added it to the Options page for easier discoverability of the settings while also keeping the Display Settings pane.

The benefit of using the Display Settings pane is not only that you can adjust these options faster but it also allows you to set it on a per-folder basis.

Display Settings pane

The Display Setting pane can be opened by using the Gears menu that is located in the top-right corner, left from your profile picture or name.

When you select “Display settings” from the gears menu, a new pane will slide in containing various options.

The actual menu will look a little bit different depending on whether you are using OWA 2013 or Outlook on the Web for Exchange 2016 and Office 365. (click on image to enlarge)

The Reading pane section allows you to specify whether the Reading Pane should be displayed on the right, at the bottom or should be hidden. There is also an option to apply this setting to all folders.

In the Message list section, you can show or hide the preview text and also set the option to either show the sender’s name or the subject on top.

In the Conversations section, you can set some options for the Conversations View. To actually disable Conversation View itself, you can use the menu which is displayed in the top right above your message list. When it is enabled, this list is called “Conversations by Date” and when disabled “Items by date”.

In OWA 2013, you may also find the following tabs;

  • Junk Reporting
To participate in improving the definitions of the Junk email filter by sending samples. As this feature is being phased out and no more filter updates are being deployed, it is best to ignore this section.
  • Outlook Web App version
Here you can select to use Outlook Web App light which is optimized for older web browsers, low bandwidth connections and accessibility needs. Outlook on the Web of Exchange 2016 and Office 365, allow you to change this in Options-> General-> Light version.

Display Settings in Options page

When you use Outlook on the Web of Exchange 2016 or Office 365, the Display Settings can also be controlled via the Options page.

  • Exchange 2016
    Gear menu-> Options-> Mail-> Layout-> Reading pane
  • Office 365
Gear menu-> Your app settings: Mail-> Mail-> Layout-> Reading pane

The available settings are the same as the screenshot shown above except for the ability to adjust it only for the current folders by unticking the “Apply to all folders” checkbox. The chosen Reading Pane setting will be set as a default for all folders. You can then still use the Display Settings pane to modify it for specific folders if you want to.
